TeH2O Trail – a trail of water, industry, and craft
The TeH2O Trail is a thematic tourist route that uniquely tells the industrial history of Bydgoszcz. The trail was inaugurated in 2015, and its narrative focuses on the role of water – the Brda River and Bydgoszcz Canal – as the key driving force behind the city's development.
The route connects 15 industrial, technical, and craft sites, showcasing how local industry, craftsmanship, and infrastructure have evolved over the centuries. The trail offers insight into both the history of major industrial plants and the daily work of the people who built Bydgoszcz's economic strength.
Among the most important points on the TeH2O Trail are, among others: Exploseum – the former DAG Fabrik Bromberg explosives factory, Mill Island – the historic center of milling and coin minting, Water Tower and Pump Hall – now the Waterworks Museum with a viewing terrace, as well as Bydgoszcz Canal, one of the oldest artificial waterways in Europe.
The route also includes city symbols such as Granaries on the Brda, interactive attractions like the Soap and Dirt History Museum, sites related to inland navigation (e.g., Lemara Barge), and places linked to photographic and brewing traditions.
The TeH2O Trail was created as part of the international Shift-X project and is an excellent option for those who want to explore Bydgoszcz actively, thematically, and unconventionally — both on foot and by bike.
